Meet Martín

Martín was born in Lima, Peru and immigrated to Washington, DC at an early age with his parents. After spending his preschool years in Cathedral Heights attending the nearby Spanish Education Development (SED) Center, Martín’s family moved to nearby Kensington, MD.

Despite the move, Martín maintained deep connections to the District; later working at the SED Center as a volunteer, and developing his passion for music by becoming a regular at iconic DC institutions like the 9:30 Club and Black Cat.

After completing a Master’s degree in biomedical anthropology at Binghamton University, Martín moved back into the District and shifted towards a career in public health and science education, capacity building and entrepreneurship for international, federal, state and nonprofit organizations. Concurrently, Martín established himself as a fixture in DC’s DJ scene, becoming a small business owner by starting his own record label, and holding down a residency at the legendary Eighteenth Street Lounge among other local favorite venues.  Martín’s unique background and blend of experiences are mirrored in his progressive platform, bringing together a deep knowledge of DC’s business and creative communities, with fresh ideas on science and technology, as well as a strong commitment to social justice.

Ward 2 deserves a Councilmember of the highest ethical standard, a Councilmember who understands the needs and struggles of real DC residents, a Councilmember who will fight for equity and justice for all. We cannot allow entitlement and pay-to-play politics to represent Ward 2 any longer.

Will you stand with Martín?
